Booking Terms & Conditions

Accommodation rates

Rates are quoted in New Zealand dollars (NZD) for exclusive use of the entire lodge and surrounds. The rates include use of all guest facilities at Manakau Lodge accommodation Kaikoura NZ, wireless internet and GST (Goods and Services Tax). Please ensure you book for the correct number of guests as not all bedrooms will be set up and made available otherwise.

Booking and payment

Advance reservations may be secured with a valid credit card guarantee. The credit card details you supply to us are held securely on an external, Payment Card Industry-compliant data server. No deposit is normally required to secure your reservation. The card used to secure a reservation must have an expiry date later than the date of stay and will be charged with the cost of your Manakau Lodge accommodation Kaikoura, at any time within our chargeable cancellation period (see below). Your credit card will be charged between 1 to 5 days prior to your arrival date.

Third party websites

Accommodation booked through third party hotel booking websites (e.g. Expedia, booking.com) which have not been pre-paid at the time of booking may be subject to payment being taken by us in advance, at any time during the cancellation period. Some room rates and special offers may be conditional upon payment being made at the time of booking or in advance of arrival. Any applicable conditions are published alongside the advertised Manakau Lodge accommodation Kaikoura rate. Payment will otherwise become due on the day of your expected arrival.

Credit card validity

In the event that a credit card charge is declined, we will attempt to contact the cardholder to request an alternative. If we are unsuccessful and unable to process a payment within 48 hours of the original card being declined, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation without further reference to the guest.

Cancellation

As a small seasonal business, late cancellations have a significant effect on us. No cancellation charges will be incurred for accommodation booked and subsequently cancelled up to 5 days before the check-in date. Cancellations notified to us within 5 days of the arrival date, curtailments of stays and no-shows are subject to a penalty charge equal to the cost of the reserved accommodation, unless exceptional circumstances have occurred and been discussed with us. The above times are amended during the peak season from the 1st December to the 28th February where we require 6 weeks (42 days) notification of cancellation. Cancellation notified outside of this time will incur a 50% penalty and within 21 days during this peak time, the penalty will be the full cost of the accommodation.

Cancellation - third party websites and agents

Rooms booked through third party websites or travel agents may be subject to different cancellation terms. Please refer to those websites or agents for details. Cancellation of any third-party booking must be notified to us through the agent or website handling the booking.

Insurance

We strongly recommend the purchase of a travel insurance policy to mitigate the potential costs arising from unexpected changes or unforeseen disruption to your travel plans, such as might be caused by adverse weather conditions or natural events, flight or ferry delays, vehicle breakdown, illness, accident, personal injury, family emergency, or bereavement, which may cause you to cancel your booking with us, or which may prevent you from being able to travel to us.

Acceptance of terms

By making an accommodation reservation with Manakau Lodge Kaikoura NZ, you are deemed to have accepted our booking terms and cancellation policy, and in the event of a charge having to be made, you agree that your credit card be debited with the applicable amount that becomes due to us.
